Instructor: Molly Eizenga & Maggie Vroom
Instructor Bio: This sister duo has been sewing, quilting and crafting since they were 8 years old. These two have a contagious passion for quilting, embroidery, cross-stitching, and any new craft they can get their hands on! Molly Eizenga was the very first in our Cotton Hearts Crew. It's not every day you meet a 23 year old with a passion for quilting! Don't let her age fool you, she's been sewing for 15 years. At the age of 10 she started making her own quilts, hand-binding them, and placing at the county fair. Once upon a time she was a manager and Master Barista at Starbucks, but followed her creative heart and became a full-time longarmer here at Cotton Hearts Quilt Shop. We're so happy she did! She pursues precision in every quilt she makes and loves taking on new challenges and techniques. She's a free spirit that thinks outside the box, with a fresh eye. When she's not piecing quilt tops, or longarming she loves making bags, English Paper Piecing, and wool work. Her favorite ongoing project is using fabric from quilts she's made and working the fabric scraps into an English Paper Piecing quilt, which she intends to work on for years to come. Her newest adventure, a serger, and she's dabbling in making clothes! Maggie recently left her career as a senior technician, working on over-head cranes, reaching 250' high, in factories and refineries - to join us at Cotton Hearts Quilt Shop. She can troubleshoot and repair anything mechanical and is known to dive into a broken sewing machines or longarms and have them diagnosed and working again in no time. She's left her work boots and uniforms behind and keeps us organized and on track here at Cotton Hearts during the day, and creates quilts, and cross-stitches whenever she possibly can! Her cotton heart couldn't resist the creativity here, and we're all overjoyed that she's joined the crew! This girl has the cutting accuracy of an Accuquilt, and is willing to take on any sewing challenge. Like her older sister, she has been sewing since she was a little girl, and made her first quilt at the age of 9. She won first place at the Lake County Fair, junior division! She loves planning quilts and has an excellent eye for color. She's the math wizard of the shop and is called upon whenever someone needs help with a pattern revision. She adores floral fabrics, and is in the process of trying to decorate every square inch of her house with quilts, and creativity. Keep your eyes on these girls, their young and talented with plenty of room to learn and grow, and share with all of you. I'm personally excited to see what they bring us next!
